Eat Out, in partnership with accredited training provider Drum Beat Academy, is proud to announce the launch of the Eat Out Food School, due to open in February 2021.  This new initiative will give 15 students the chance of a lifetime by enabling these aspiring chefs to realise and reach their culinary dreams.

COVID-19’s catastrophic blow to the restaurant industry, which led to the launch of the Eat Out Restaurant Relief Fund in April 2020, has shown that South Africa’s restaurant and hospitality industry needs support and upliftment now more than ever. Through the Eat Out Food School, we strive to inspire and connect a community to make a difference in the world, one meal at a time. Our aim is to help rebuild South Africa’s restaurant industry by giving back and upskilling the historically disadvantaged youth to increase employment within the industry. Students who are successful will receive a monthly stipend to cover costs.

“The Eat Out Food School is officially opening its doors on 15 February 2021 and we have 15 spots available for students who are unemployed, of historically disadvantaged background and between the ages of 18 to 34,” says Tarryn Corlett, head of the Eat Out Food School.

The Eat Out Food School will be offering a fully-funded 12-month learnership to students who meet the criteria and show a passion for the industry. At the end of the learnership, students will receive CATHSSETA’s Accredited National Certificate in Food & Beverage Service as well as CATHSSETA’s Accredited Skills Programme Cook: Convenience Food. These students will also be exposed to other exciting training opportunities in some of the country’s top restaurants.

Applications for the Class of 2021 are now open and will close on the 30th November 2020. Visit https://help.eatout.co.za/food-school to find out more.
